What is the difference between an NPN and PNP transistor? In an NPN transistor, current flows from collector to emitter when a positive base voltage is applied. In a PNP transistor, current flows from emitter to collector when the base is driven to a lower voltage than the emitter. NPN is more commonly used because electrons have higher mobility than holes.
